The Nutty Boy is based on the beloved children’s book of the same name by Brazilian author Ziraldo and chronicles the mishaps of Maluquinho (Nutty) and his buddies.

Ziraldo adapted the 1980s book into The Nutty Boy comics, which have now sold over 4 million copies across ten different countries and served as the basis for two films and a TV show. Netflix claims that the show will include current events and introduce new characters to join Maluquinho, the well-known child with the pan on his head.

Maluquinho, the primary character, is a happy and upbeat 10-year-old boy who sports a pan on his head in place of a hat. The majority of the tales—his signature—focus on the comical mishaps of Maluquinho and his pals.
