Brendan Fraser is a Dual citizenship holder and is the youngest of four children among Kevin, Regan, and Sean.
His parents are Carol Mary (1937-2016) and Peter Fraser. His father, Peter, was a Travel Executive and a Former Journalist for the Government Office of Tourism while his mother, Carol, was a Sales Counselor.
His maternal uncle is George Genereux, the only one to win a Gold Medal for Canada in the 1952 Summer Olympics. During his childhood, his family often moved from one city to another. Therefore, he has lived in Eureka, California, Switzerland, Seattle, the Netherlands, and Ottawa.

After many years, Fraser revealed in an interview with Zach Baron, a senior staff writer of GQ, why stepping back from big projects was necessary for him.
Known to everyone, in 2018, Fraser accused the former president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), Philip Berk, of assaults.
He told the outer world that in 2003, Philip intentionally grooved him leaving him in panic. This accusation soon became a sensation among people but was eventually refuted by Berk. He even wondered if HFPA blacklisted him from movies.
He expressed his situation in a talk with GQ saying, the incident made him depressed, feel reclusive, and forced him to retreat. He said that he became emotionally distressed due to this issue. In the interview with GQ, he said he is still frightened regarding that incident.
But this was not only the incident that helped him to withdraw. His mother’s sudden demise in 2016 due to cancer and health issues of his own also added some points to his retreat.
Fraser would always perform his stunts in the movies by himself, no matter how complex and dangerous the stunt was. And this habit of his had a severe impact on his health. His body became fragile and he started to fall sick from time to time.
He had to attend surgeries for every injury including the surgery on his knees and he even had his vocal cord repaired. He visited the hospital often for seven years and he even needed Laminectomy.

His role as the lead character Charlie was praised for its amazing delivery of natural acting and brilliance. He gave his career-best performance in the movie which moved many to tears.
