Tamela began her career in a group l with the group in the 90s. Her experience with them brought her to the limelight and she later got spotted in the movie stakeholders. Together with the Kirk Franklin group, they led to her acting career and also her solo music career.
She later left the gospel group and she appeared in He Say…She Says…But What Does God Say? by David E. Talbert. She debuted her first stage play I Can Do Bad All By Myself in 1999 when she was discovered by Tyler Perry. She then followed and appeared in other Tyler Perry productions including Meet The Browns, Madea’s Class Reunion, Madea’s Family Reunion, and many others. She as well appeared on TV shows. She has appeared on ‘The Tonight Show’, ‘BET Soundstage’, the Grammy Awards of 1999, ‘Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, and many other TV shows.
Tamela started her solo music career in 2005 when she created the label Tillyman Music Group, with her husband. In the same year, she later launched her solo album, (Gotta Keep Movin). She as well launched her live album, (The Live Experience). Mann’s second album, ‘The Master Plan’ came in 2009 and made it to number 2 on the Billboard Gospel Album Chart.
She later produced her third studio album, (Best Days) which did so much better than the first two. It peaked got to be ranked 1st on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums Chart and was ranked 14th on the Billboard 200. She also uplifts and inspires tracks that earned her lots of recognition and accolades including Best Female Gospel Artiste of the Year at the 2014 Stellar Awards, as well as 2014 BET Awards’ Best Gospel Artist. in 1012 she got featured in Sparkle alongside Whitney Houston and Jordin Sparks.
