Prainha means “little Praia”. Praia is the name of the capital and Praia also means beach. This neighborhood is surrounded by the ocean, with two beaches just footsteps away. There are a few restaurants in the area, all offering their own specialty drinks and foods.
Praia Shopping, a close shopping center is within walking distance. There you can buy phone cards and find an ATM, gift shops, clothing stores, gym, restaurants and also a food market in the under level.

Prainha is a twenty minute walk from the city center, Plateau, a small metropolis consisting of one long avenue and a good number of connecting streets. Plateau is one of the busiest parts of the city during weekdays and Saturdays, there you can find shops, cafés, cultural interest points, historic statues and great views of the surrounding areas.

Praia is also a great connecting point for other islands and the rest of the island of Santiago.
