At Saturday’s event, Yale transgender swimmer Iszac Henig stole the show from Ivy League opponent Lia Thomas by delaying his transition from female to male so that he could continue his college career on the women’s team.
He is a California native who competed in the Yale, Dartmouth, and College of Pennsylvania meets in Philadelphia three times, winning all three, including two head-to-head matchups with Thomas.
Henig has been a member of Yale’s women’s team for three years and is determined to postpone his hormone transition so that he can remain on the team.
In April 2021, he was introduced to his coaches and teammates.
