Sutan Amrull was born on June 14, 1974 in Baldwin Park, California. Three years after his birth, his family moved to his home country, Indonesia. He stayed in his father’s country until he was 9 years old when he moved to America. It is unclear which of the many ethnic groups in Indonesia that Amrull is from.
At the age of 16, Amrull, also known as RajaGemini (her drag persona), began posing as female and was quickly inculturated into the Los Angeles drag queen scene. He studied art in college for a few years before dropping out to pursue a career as a makeup artist and drag queen.
Before becoming a crowned drag queen, Sutan Amrull first rose to prominence in the makeup department of America’s Next Top Model. He worked with models and show business judges from 2005 to 2009. Not much is known about the boyfriend-turned-husband except that he is from Toronto, the place where they first met after a period of online stalking. Amrull was in Toronto for a pride event held at the Toronto Library when he first met Ryan in person. As he was telling Hornet he was about to get on the elevator when he saw Ryan just after its doors opened.
A wedding for the two was most likely to come too, as their relationship seemed to be long-lasting, judging by the cute Instagram posts they kept dedicating to each other. As Amrull told Hornet, they knew early on that they wanted to get married, but the big day came a bit on the spur of the moment.
The official side of things seemed to be the only one preventing their union from getting ready, so they immediately decided to tie the knot. The day they made up their minds, they called family and friends and scheduled the ceremony for the next day. The event took place in Norwalk, California.
On the occasion of this event, Amrull’s mother, two sisters, his brother-in-law as well as his best friends from RuPaul’s Drag Race, Delta Work and Manila Luzon. The ceremony was followed by an intimate reception at Padre’s Restaurant in Long Beach.
