Hunter Waltrip father Brian Waltrip is the winner of the Mini Truck Championship of NASCAR of 2002. Hunter was a child when Brian started racing Go-karts.
Twenty years later, Hunter also became a Super Truck Champion at Langley, following the legacy of his dad. He honored his triumph with a post including his and Brian’s 2002 championship reference. Both images show them celebrating with their families and crew.
Brian racer first started racing go-karts but eventually switched to trucks in the early nineties. He retired after a few years of becoming a champion and started his firm, Brian Waltrip Hauling LLC.
Hunter Waltrip Father Brian Is A Champion Driver
Hunter Waltrip dad Waltrip started the legacy of becoming a champion in truck racing. Brian stormed from sixth to the winning position in the race.
Based on a 2002 Daily Press report, the Williamsburg driver faced an uphill struggle in the division points hunt being eliminated from the earlier race. He was using an unauthorized oil pan.
Regardless, he admitted that winning races is the only way he can get back into contention for a division title. Waltrip was the quickest qualifier, but due to a redraw, he started sixth and led the final 20 laps.
A few years after winning the championship in 2002, Brian retired from the sport.
Hunter Carried The Legacy Of A Champion Mini Truck Racer
Hunter is a graduate of the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville North Carolina. Completing his course in 2018, he was working at Dean Case.
It is an engine maker company run by Brian and he often raced with the identical vehicles that were used by senior Waltrip in racing while young.
NASCAR reports that his racing career began by driving a spare vehicle. After finishing on the lead leap, he acquired the car from the driver and went on to win two poles that season.
Hunter earned his first victory in 2019 when a chance arose for him to purchase a truck. It was similar to the one that Brian raced with so he started his work on the engine on that.
Besides, his involvement in racing drew his family closer together and gave him a new clan at the racetrack. He stated that it was “nothing but labor” for them once Brian departed from the sport. His medals were stored in the attic after his driving career was over.
Brian Started A Company After Retirement
Brian Waltrip Hauling LLC was founded after the mini truck racer retired as a professional racer. Brian started with a local business in Williamsburg, Virginia.
His Facebook profile states that the Williamsburg native has been living a quiet life with his wife, Simone Piette Waltrip, since October 2005. He also has a daughter named Shelly Waltrip, an avid dog lover.
Aside from that, his Facebook profile is filled with photos of him hunting with his son when he was younger. It also included photographs from his early racing career.
Moreover, Waltrip’s recent post demonstrates his pride when his son achieved the same feat as him. The post was published on October 30, 2022, after Hunter won the super truck championship at Langley.
Continuing to fill his big shoes motivates Hunter even more for the future.
