Suga Ex-Name, Parents, And Why Suga Changed His Name

Suga’s former name is “Agust D”.

He changed his name in order to differentiate his work from that of his work as Suga. He developed the alter ego “Agust D”, which is derived from the initials DT, short for his birthplace, Daegu Town, and “Suga” spelled backwards.

Min Yoon-gi, better known by his stage names Suga and Agust D, is a South Korean rapper, songwriter and record producer.

Managed by Big Hit Music, he debuted as a member of the South Korean boy band BTS in 2013.

Suga Parents
Not much is known about Suga’s parents, but his parents were initially not in support of his career.

It was his passion for music that helped push him forward.

“They strongly opposed it for about half a year. My father is a very strict person and since my parents suffered a lot, they didn’t want their own children to suffer too. They wanted their children to become civil servants and live stable lives”, Suga once said.

Suga’s parents went to see him perform live with BTS a few years after their debut. When Suga saw them in the audience, he broke down crying, bowing to them.

Since then, Suga’s parents have wholeheartedly supported his career as a musician, writer, and producer.

The artist went on to create solo music, collaborate with the American artist named Halsey, and win dozens of awards with his boys in BTS.
