Stipe’s story is that of the son of a migrant who kept traveling to the land of the free. Stipe Miocic was born to his parents, Kathy and Bojan Miocic. His parents were both immigrants from Croatia – his mother from Cetingrad and his father from Rtina.
He was born on August 19, 1982 in Euclid, Ohio. While attending Eastlake North High School, Miocic played many sports, including baseball, football, and wrestling. At the time the university flipped, Miocic was attending Cleveland State University and majoring in marketing and communications. He will then transfer to Trevecca Nazarene University where he will obtain his degree in communication.
During his time at both colleges, he was a target for several Major League Baseball teams. He scored .344 with seven homers on his team as he helped his team, the Trojans win the 2005 TranSouth Atlantic Conference. He is a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University.
It would have been fair to assume that Stipe was entering the world of sports at some point in his life, given that in his early days he was used to playing different types. While training for wrestling and baseball, Miocic was involved as a partner with Dan Bobish at the Strong Style MMA training facility, in Independence, Ohio. He was introduced to mixed martial arts but switched to boxing where he was seen beating boxers with far more experience than him given he had only been training for several months.
In boxing, Miocic became a Cleveland Golden Gloves boxing champion and NCAA Division 1 wrestler at Cleveland State, then returned to MMA which saw him win his first six fights, all by knockout.

Stipe Miocic’s fight record makes for interesting reading as he truly is a force to be reckoned with in the UFC. During his career as a professional fighter, Miocic has competed in 21 fights, winning 18 of those fights and losing 3. Of his 18 wins, 13 were by knockout, 4 by unanimous decision, and 1 by submission. Of his 3 losses, 2 came by knockout and 1 by unanimous decision.

On June 14, 2011, a multi-fight deal between Miocic and the UFC was announced. His debut for the UFC came against Joey Beltran on October 8, 2011. Miocic won the fight via unanimous decision. From then on, Miocic engaged in a series of fights that mostly included wins so he could measure up to the UFC Heavyweight Championship.
He took on then-champion FabricioWerdum at UFC 198 on May 14, 2016. He defeated Werdum to clinch the title, inflicting his first loss since June 2011. Miocic went on to defend the title in three title defenses consecutive fights against Alistair Overeem at UFC 203, then against Junior Dos Santos at UFC 211 and then against Francis Ngannou at UFC 220. During the preparation for this fight, Miocic was openly overlooked because he never received the promotion amount and support that Ngannou had received from the UFC.
Stipe Miocic won all three fights, however, and established in the process the longest title reign in UFC history. That reign ended when he lost to UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier on July 7, 2018 at UFC 226 for an estimated $15 million.

As things were obviously going well in the octagon, Miocic ruined everything when he married Ryan Marie Carney on June 18, 2016. The couple were married in Kirtland, Ohio at Divine Word Catholic Church. In January 2018, Miocic announced that she was expecting a baby. On July 24, 2018, Meelah Claire, their daughter was born.
