Although Steve-O is American, he was born in London, England. Stephen Gilchrist Clover was given that name by his parents when he was born on June 13th, 1974. His father had English and American ancestry, while his mother was Canadian.
While his father was working for Pepsi-Cola, the couple was residing in England. Steve-O’s family relocated to Brazil when he was six months old because his father had been appointed head of Pepsi-Cola in South America.
Growing up in Brazil exposed the young Stephen Clover to several cultures and linguistic traditions; he has said that his very first words were in Portuguese. Stephen’s family moved around a lot while he was a toddler, and by the time he was two, he had made Venezuela his home.
The boy afterward became fluent in Spanish. At the age of six, he moved to Miami and started his first stint in the nation. He would only spend three years there because the family went back to England when he was nine. He lived in his hometown for three years before spending a year in Ontario, Canada, before making one last move back to London.
