Stephen Kendall “Steve” Gadd (born April 9, 1945, in Irondequoit, New York) is an American musician who performs in a variety of musical styles. Mr. Gadd is one of the most well-known and highly respected session and studio drummers working in the music business today. Gadd’s groove on Paul Simon’s “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover” and his drum solo on Steely Dan’s “Aja” are both instances of his foundational sound and trademark style, as is his drum solo on Steely Dan’s “Aja” in the same song. He has collaborated with a diverse spectrum of prominent artists from a variety of genres, most notably Simon & Garfunkel, Steely Dan, James Taylor, Eric Clapton, Grover Washington Jr., Chick Corea, and Al Di Meola, among others.
