Stephanie Gorin is an American award-winning journalist who anchors the 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. newscasts on NBC5 and the 10 p.m. newscast on The Valley’s CW since 1992. She spent four years reporting and anchoring the morning news and then moved to Albany, NY in 1996, to be a street reporter for WXXA-TV. Two years later, in 1998, Stephanie returned to NBC5 to anchor the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts. In 2002, she helped launch the 5 p.m. newscast, the region’s first of its kind, which has been a huge success.
Stephanie fell in love with reading and writing when she was about seven years old. Gorin writes manuscripts, that she hopes maybe someday she will try to get published. As a child, Judy Blume was her favorite author.
Stephanie interviewed Oprah in 1998 after she chose Chris Bohjalian’s novel MIDWIVES for her book club. Oprah traveled to Vermont for her book club meeting. When her people tried to get Gorin to wrap up her interview after just a couple of minutes, Oprah told them to quit it, and she gave her thirty minutes of her time.
