Stefon Diggs not at practice sparked rumors of Madden curse hitting early this year after Josh Allen press conference.
When Diggs failed to show up at the Buffalo Bills mandatory mini camp 2023 on June 13, fans called him a “diva” and “potentially a locker room cancer.”
According to FOX Sports reporter Henry McKenna, Diggs had planned on going to the minicamp to practice. This was confirmed by Stefon’s trainer Myron Flowers.
The 29-year-old had told Myron that he was headed to minicamp for Monday’s physical when they had worked out on Sunday. It is positively curious what happened in those few hours that made him change his mind.
Many are calling for a trade stating if Bills were smart, they would cut him loose by shipping him off to the highest bidder.
Josh Allen Stefon Diggs Drama Explained In Press Conference
Stefon Diggs yelling at Josh Allen on the sideline after the Buffalo Bills lost 27-10 to Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Divisional Round was met with criticism in January 2023.
It was the last time the Bills saw him. Considering, the WR had signed a deal last offseason, the fact that he skipped camp may have something to do with his relationship with Josh Allen or the team in general.

Bills quarterback Allen had supposedly talked to him on Tuesday.
Press Conference
Josh Allen press conference revealed he and Stefon are working on things not football related. Teamwork was the main issue.
He clarified that he loves him but the team’s tactics and training do not work without him present. When asked if the issues are related to the emotional outburst from the wide receiver after playoff loss, Allen said he did not know but that they were going to work it out.
He believed that there were things he could do better to help get Diggs back to the training ground saying many things did not go as planned last season.
“I think, as an organization, maybe not communicating the right way with everything. Just trying to talk and listen at the same time, hear him out and just try to move this forward as quickly and respectfully as possible.”
Many were not happy with all that was being said or not said in the conference, with some commenting Allen should have told Diggs publicly to show up in camp to “try to win a ring.”
Not everyone was on the same page. Confronting another player is not a quarterback’s duty and it is always best to let Management handle it.
After Allen’s press conference, Bills supporters pointed out Stefon Diggs Instagram story seems to throw shade at either Allen or head coach Sean McDermott.
“I just be letting people cap. If them lies help you sleep better tell em big dawg.”
Buffalo Bills Camp Stefon Diggs
Stefon Diggs was not at Buffalo Bills mandatory mini camp 2023 even though he reported to the facility before training started for the day.
Head coach Sean McDermott said the 29-year-old never reported to the team’s facility on Tuesday. This was different from what Adisa Bakari had to say to ESPN‘s Adam Schefter. Soon after, Bills changed their statement. Apparently, Stefon had reported early in the morning but did not stay for practice.
No elaboration has been forthcoming from either party. NFL enthusiasts believe the 29-year-old will miss half of the camp before going down with a “soft tissue injury” when he does come back. Some believe he is just doing this for the money.
“Diggs either wants more money or doesn’t want Buffalo to sign Hopkins, OR he is holding his pacifier until they promise to throw him the ball more.”
While some taunted him saying they wished they had a job that they just didn’t show up for, others were pissed that football and teammates were not important to him anymore.
“I guess football not important to you anymore. Hope we get Hopkins so you can just take the year off. Will be better without you.”
Agent Adisa Bakari
Stefon Diggs agent Adisa Bakari stated his client met with the Bills head coach Sean McDermott and GM Monday and Tuesday.
This was brought to attention by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Bakari confirmed Diggs will be there for the camp till it concludes on June 15 and that the current situation is not related to the contract. Not only has he been in Buffalo but he also took his physical.
This has caused some confusion and rightly so.
Stefon Diggs’ agent, Adisa Bakari, said his client is in Buffalo, has been in Buffalo since yesterday morning, took his physical, met with the head coach and GM the past two days and the Pro-Bowl WR “will be there for the entirety of the minicamp.”

According to agent Adisa, Diggs was confused with the announcement made by McDermott to be outlandish and quite weird. Conversations have been happening behind closed doors and the in-house situation should be resolved soon.
How Long Is Stefon Diggs Contract?
Stefon Diggs contract with Bills is four years long which will see him with the team till 2024.
The $96 million contract will associate him with the Bills until after the 2027 season. He receives an average annual salary of $24 million and was guaranteed $47,985,000 at signing. His total guaranteed money is $70 million.
This makes him one of the highest-paid players in his position. The average salary in his position is $2,283,083.
Bills will only be able to release or trade Diggs with minimal dead cap incurred in 2025.
Stefon Diggs Cowboys Trade
Stefon Diggs trade rumors of him possibly being traded to the Cowboys are another fake news circling around.
The trade news took off after he became noticeably absent during the mandatory minicamp on Tuesday. Whether or not the NFL team wants to trade him or not, it will not be possible this year.
After the restructuring Bills did this offseason, it now distributes the bonus over the remaining years of the contract. If the Bills do trade Stefon Diggs, the bonus would become dead cap, resulting in $13.2 million in dead cap this year and $31 million next year.
With the Bills projected to have little cap space available in the upcoming offseason, it makes any kind of trade impossible.
However, fans have been pushing for the Bills to trade to Baltimore for Devin Duvernay, Isaiah Likely, and JK Dobbins and give them a 5th-round pick in 2024.
