Rep. Rosa DeLauro’s husband caught a would-be burglar while the suspect was still inside their Capitol Hill home last week, according to several media reports.
The Connecticut Democrat, who was not home, and her husband, Stan Greenberg, were not harmed in the incident that occurred Friday. Greenberg is a prominent pollster and strategist whose clients have included Bill Clinton and Al Gore.
WJLA-TV reported Greenberg had just arrived at the house and walked into the couple’s bedroom when he saw “the stranger standing there with a large knife,” according to an e-mail sent by the District of Columbia police. Police had been alerted and arrived shortly after.
Stolen items recovered included a Mickey Mouse pin, a heart pendant necklace, a laptop, a digital picture frame, and a costume hat, according to the TV station. The suspect was arrested at the scene.
