Spencer John Bignell Net Worth, Income, Salary, Earnings, Biography

Spencer Kelly (born 5 July 1973, sometimes known as Spencer John Bignell) is a British television presenter who is best known for hosting the BBC’s technology show Click, which airs on the BBC World News and the BBC News channels in the United Kingdom. Growing up in the town of Bishopstoke, close to the town of Eastleigh in Hampshire, he attended Wyvern Secondary School in Fair Oak and subsequently Barton Peveril College in Eastleigh.

At the University of Cambridge, he graduated with honours in Computer Science and Mathematics. Kelly got his start in radio while still a student, first at Radio Glen at Southampton University, and then as the programme director at Cambridge University Radio. Following graduation, he was hired as a traffic presenter for Ocean FM, a local radio station serving Portsmouth and Southampton. He went under the stage moniker “Commander Kelly in the Flying Eye” and presented traffic reports. Later, he was hired as the host of the station’s morning programme, a position he maintained for six years.

In January 2003, he joined the BBC as one of five iPresenters, which was a new position at the time (interactive presenters). The team was a pioneer in the development of new kinds of interactive broadcasting, including the use of the internet, digital television, and digital radio. Included in this category are interactive LiveChats, which are live interviews with celebrities that are broadcast over the internet and in which members of the audience may pose questions to the guests in real time.

For the next two and a half years, he also reported for BBC World’s Click Online programme, and he made an appearance on Five’s The Gadget Show. In January 2006, he took over as host of the rebranded Click series, which had previously been hosted by Stephen Cole. Coventry University granted Kelly an Honorary Doctorate of Technology in recognition of her contributions to the field. Curtis Brown is his agent, and he lives in New York City.
