Sony Phones in Kenya – Sony Xperia SP
A premium feel, with relatively decent specifications and that almost flagship look for around Ksh. 25,ooo. Here is a mid-range phone you might want to own: Sony Xperia SP.
First of all, the main thing I really love about this phone is the display. Not the screen size though. The screen size is 4.6 inches, which wouldn’t be good for/on my hand but the resolution is 720 x 1280 pixels meaning it has pixel density of 319 ppi. That is such a sharp display at the stated price. It is good to note the iPhone 6 has a pixel density of 326ppi. The screen is a TFT capacitive screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and is driven by the Sony Mobile Bravia Engine 2. It supports up to 10 fingers, multitouch. On the size though, 4.6 inches is not small. Perfectly fits. One handed use.
The phone runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean which is upgradable to 4.3 Jelly Bean. The system is powered by a 1.7Ghz Dual Core Krait processor and 1GB RAM. Internal memory is 8GB with 5.8 being user accessible. One can expand the memory with an external SD card upto 32GB. Note this too, the chipset is a Qualcomm MSM8960T Snapdragon. And there is an Adreno 320 GPU.
There is an 8MP rear camera that takes photos with resolutions of up to 3264 x 2448 pixels. The camera supports autofocus, geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, HDR, sweep panorama and has LED flash. It shoots full HD videos, 1080p, at 30 frames per second. Cool huh? It has a front 0.3 MP VGA camera capable of 640×480 pixel photos.
Xperia SP supports USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0 and has NFC. It has the following sensors: accelerometer, gyro, proximity and a compass. The battery is a non-removable 2370 mAh Li-Ion battery. It uses a micro-simcard.
It comes in black, red and white.
Update:
The actual price ranges between 19k and 26k.
