Ronnie O’Sullivan Nickname The Essex Exocet
Ronnie O’Sullivan is known by the nickname “The Essex Exocet.” O’Sullivan, one of the sport’s most prolific break-builders, made his first competitive century break at the age of ten and his first competitive maximum break at the age of fifteen.
In 2019, he became the one and only player in the professional competition to break 1,000 career century breaks, a record he has since extended to over 1,100 centuries.
He has the most officially recognized maximum breaks in the professional competition (15). In addition, he holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest competitive maximum break, which he completed in 5 minutes and 8 seconds at the 1997 World Championship.
O’Sullivan began playing snooker at the age of seven and quickly rose to prominence as an amateur player, winning his first club tournament at the age of nine.
Why is Ronnie O’Sullivan Called The Magician? Learn About It
Ronnie Osullivan is dubbed the “Magician” because the way he plays conjures up spells. He is widely regarded in the sport, with many of his contemporaries hailing him as the greatest player ever and others describing him as a “genius.”
Hendry described O’Sullivan as “the best player in the world by a country mile” after losing 6–17 to him in the 2008 World Championship semi-finals.
However, O’Sullivan lacks confidence or interest at times, and he has performed inconsistently throughout his career, with observers noticing the “two Ronnies” aspect of his personality.
Why is Ronnie Osullivan Nicknamed The Rocket?
Ronnie O’Sullivan earned the nickname “The Rocket” for his fast and attacking style of play after winning a best-of-nine frame game in a record 43 minutes in his debut season as a professional.
He is a prolific break builder and a solid tactical player who has expressed his disdain for long, drawn-out games, claiming that they are detrimental to the game of snooker.
The player is right-handed but can play to a high level with his left hand and routinely alternates where necessary, allowing him to attempt shots with his left hand that would otherwise necessitate a rest or spider.
When he first demonstrated this left-handed ability against Alain Robidoux in the 1996 World Championship, the Canadian accused him of disrespect and refused to shake hands after the match.
