Sir James Hardy death: How did Sir James Hardy die?

James Hardy, a well-known winemaker, sailor, and community leader, passed away quietly in Adelaide at the age of 90. Hardy was a prestigious inductee into America’s Cup Hall of Fame and participated in three America’s Cup campaigns for Australia, helping Australia II to a historic victory in 1983.

Along with his accomplishments in sailing, he also represented Australia in the Olympics in 1964 and 1968. Hardy received an OBE in 1975 and a knighthood in 1981 for his services to sailing and the community. He continued competing in sailing far into his later years.

He maintained executive roles in his family’s winemaking company in addition to his sailing career, and he served on other boards and councils, including the Landcare Foundation.

Hardy is survived by his wife Joan, sons David and Richard, and siblings David and Pamela. Adelaide will hold a private funeral before holding a memorial ceremony later on.
