Siaya Town is a town in Siaya County of Kenya. It is the capital of Siaya County. It is located 74 kilometres northwest of Kisumu, the provincial capital. Siaya forms municipal council with population of 45,353 people.

The Town of Siaya is conveniently situated in close proximity to several major centers in the County of Kisumu, Homabay & Migori. The town is one hours drive from an international airport (Kisumu International Airport). It is located 74 kilometers northwest of Kisumu, the provincial capital. Siaya forms a municipal council with a population of 45,353 people.
Siaya Town: Climate
With temperate weather conditions and considerable sunshine relative to the rest of the country, Siaya’s climate suits an outdoor lifestyle.
The town has an annual rainfall of between 1,170 mm and 1,450 mm temperature range of between 15 -30. The region experiences a modified equatorial climate with two rainfall seasons and relatively high temperatures. The topography is undulating dissected by water divides of rivers Nzoia and Yala, as the altitude rises from 1140 m to 1400 m.
Economic Activities in Siaya Town
Agriculture and fishing are the main economic activities. Local agricultural production consists of Rice, Cotton, Coffee, Sugarcane, Tobacco, Kales, indigenous greens, Bananas, Sweet Potatoes and Cassava. Cattle and poultry are also kept.
Lake Victoria supports the vibrant fishing industry. There are a number of fisheries in the County that process fish from the lake. The county enjoys relatively good weather patterns throughout the year two rainy seasons annually.
Siaya Town: Administration
Siaya municipality has five wards: Mjini, Siaya Central, Siaya East, Siaya North, and Siaya West. All of them are part of Alego Constituency. With the new constitution, it is now also in Siaya County of which it´s also its headquarters.
The County has an area of 2530.4 sq km with a population of 842,304 and is made up of six constituencies and twenty-nine wards. Thus in a general election, the populace elects the following political leaders: a president of the Republic of Kenya, a governor, senator and a woman representative of Siaya County, six members of parliament for the six constituencies in the county and twenty-nine county representatives to the Siaya County government.
