Shou Zi Chew is a Singaporean by nationality.
A native of Singapore, Chew is a businessman and entrepreneur who has served as chief executive officer of TikTok since 2021.
After graduating from Hwa Chong Institution, Chew then served in the National Service as a commissioned officer in the Singapore Army.
Following the service, Chew move to London where he studied and graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University College London.
He subsequently acquired a Master of Business Administration degree at Harvard Business School in 2010.
While studying at Harvard, Chew completed a summer internship at Facebook.
After Chew joined Xiaomi a smartphone company as a chief financial officer in 2015, he rose and became the company’s international business president in 2019.
In March 2021, Chew joined ByteDance as its chief financial officer. Following the then TikTok CEO Kevin A. Mayer who steps down from ByteDance three months after taking the position, Chew became the new CEO.
