Shawne Merriman net worth: Shawne Merriman is an American former professional football player who has a net worth of $13 million dollars. Shawne Merriman was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The San Diego Chargers drafted him 2005, and during his first three seasons with team, he played excellent football. He was named “Defensive Rookie of the Year” by the Associated Press, and was named to the All-Pro team from 2005 to 2007. His excellent play was marred by a positive test for steroids in 2006, which he attributed to the use of a dietary supplement. He was suspended for four games, and subsequently tested negative on all steroid tests. In 2007, he tore two ligaments in his knee, and that was the beginning of a string of injuries. In 2010, he began playing for the Buffalo Bills, but partially tore his Achilles tendon almost immediately, and was placed on reserve. He retired in March 2013.
