Shawn Rhoden also going by the pseudonyms Flexatron, Jamaican Muscle Machine or Eeyore is a Jamaican-American International Federation of BodyBuilding and Fitness (IFBB) professional bodybuilder and the 2018 Mr. Olympia hailing from Maryland. He won the 2018 Mr. Olympia contest by defeating seven-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath. At the age of 43 years and five months; he goes on record as the oldest bodybuilder to win the Mr. Olympia title.

He was born in Kingston, Jamaica.Shawn was very athletic growing up, playing soccer and cricket whenever he had the chance. Two years later, at the age of 17, his interest in bodybuilding had blossomed and he entered the gym to gain size and strength. Shawn’s fitness journey began in 1992.
Injury
At the age of 24, Shawn had sculpted a formidable physique and he was almost ready for his first competition. However, in 1993, he ripped 9 tendons in his right hand from an accident in the gym. This injury could’ve put Shawn out of action and ruined his progress, but he refused to give up. Against the doctors’ advice, he continued working out rigorously to achieve his goal of becoming a professional bodybuilder
Father’s Death
In 2002, Shawn’s father lost his battle with lung cancer and passed away. He went through a period of alcohol addiction following his father Lloyd’s death in 2002 but overcame it with help from his friend Lenore Carroll after a 6 year break from working out due to the devastating news of his father’s demise.
Career
An aspiring soccer player in his early teens, Rhoden started bodybuilding in 1992 with inspiration from former Mr. Universe Yohnnie Shambourger and, after an amateur career ruptured with several injuries and alcohol dependence, won his IFBB Pro card by 2010. He was the 11th at the 2011 Mr. Olympia (Mr. Olympia debut), 3rd at the 2012 Mr. Olympia, and 4th at the 2013 Mr. Olympia competition. In 2014, Shawn Rhoden took 3rd place at the 2014 Mr. Olympiacompetition and again 3rd place at the 2015 Mr. Olympia. Rhoden followed up in 2016, with a 2nd place finish at the 2016 Mr. Olympia. In 2018, Rhoden became the new Mr. Olympia replacing Phil Heath. He is the oldest bodybuilder to win the Mr. Olympia title, at the age of 43 years, 5 months.
