The announcement was made by Karey Burke, president of ABC Entertainment, and Craig Hunegs, president of Disney Television Studios, to whom she will report.

Rumors had been circling for a while that Ryan would be one of the execs making the transition to Disney after its colossal $71.3 billion acquisition of much of 21st Century Fox’s film and television holdings.

On the TV side, Peter Rice, Dana Walden, John Landgraf, and Gary E. Knell have all already packed their bags for the Magic Kingdom.

In her new role, Ryan will oversee all marketing, publicity and communications strategies for ABC, including media, creative, social, digital, publicity and talent relations.

She will also oversee the communications and marketing teams of Disney Television Studios, which include ABC Studios, Fox 21 TV Studios, and 20th Fox TV, managing the marketing, publicity, corporate communications, events, talent relations and awards strategies of the three companies.

“I can’t wait for Shannon to get here,” said Burke in a statement. “I’ve admired her innovative campaigns and fierce competitive spirit from afar for years, and I know ABC will be better in every way with her guiding our talented marketing and publicity teams. We are lucky indeed.”

During her tenure as Fox TV CMO, which began in 2015, Ryan and her team launched the surprise hit music competition series “The Masked Singer,” as well as dramas such as “9-1-1,” “The Resident,” “The Passage” and “The Orville.”

“Joining Disney, a company I’ve always admired and one of the most powerful brands in the world, is the opportunity of a lifetime,” said Ryan.

“I’m beyond excited to begin this next chapter and look forward to collaborating with Craig and Karey and their incredibly talented teams to shine a light on the fantastic work being done at these creative companies.”

On the studio side, Ryan helped mastermind PR campaigns for several award-winning shows, namely “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story,” “This Is Us,” and “The Americans.”

Fox’s Shannon Ryan Named President Of Marketing ABC …

Fox Alum Shannon Ryan Named President Of Marketing ABC Entertainment & Disney TV Studios

Shannon Ryan, who most recently served as a chief marketing officer for Fox Television Group, is joining Disney as president of marketing for ABC Entertainment and Disney Television Studios.

The move, which had been in the works for months, reunites Ryan with her boss at Fox, Dana Walden, chairman of Disney Television Studios and ABC Entertainment.

In her new role, Ryan — who took a short break after leaving Fox earlier this year — will oversee all marketing, publicity and communications strategies for the ABC Television Network.

She also will oversee the communications and marketing teams of Disney Television Studios, which include ABC Studios, Fox 21 Television Studios and 20th Century Fox Television. Ryan will report to Karey Burke, president of ABC Entertainment, and Craig Hunegs, president of Disney Television Studios.

Since 2015, Ryan has served as a chief marketing officer for the now-defunct Fox Television Group, part of which went to Disney and part remained at Fox after the merger. Ryan and her team launched the No.

1 broadcast entertainment show and the No. 1 new show of the season, The Masked Singer; as well as hit dramas 9-1-1, The Resident, The Passage, and The Orville; and successfully relaunched the Last Man Standing on Fox.

On the studio side, Ryan played key role to 20th Century Fox Television and Fox 21 Television Studios’ recent awards dominance, with Emmy and Golden Globe wins for The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story; SAG, Humanitas Prize,

and Emmy wins for This Is Us; and Emmy, Golden Globe, and Critics’ Choice win for The Americans. During Ryan’s tenure (since November 2015), the studio has scored 234 Emmy nominations and 44 wins, 35 Golden Globe nods and 8 wins, and six AFI awards among numerous other honors.

Prior to her promotion to chief marketing officer, Ryan was EVP Marketing & Communications for FTG. From 2011-15, she was EVP Marketing & Communications for Fox.

Shannon Ryan’s eulogy to her husband, ATF agent Jeff Ryan

Shannon Ryan’s eulogy from her husband Jeff Ryan’s funeral on Sept. 24, 2011, The last time we were in this church we stood at that fountain and we baptized our son Connor.

People have been remarking to me all morning how strong I am and let me say that any strength you see in me today is Jeff’s.

I want to tell you a little bit about the life and the death of my husband and my best friend, Jeff Ryan.

I will speak to his death today because the fact that he took his own life may leave you asking why and wondering if maybe you didn’t really know him. I want to address why and I want to tell each of you here today that yes, you really did know Jeff Ryan.

As to the why, I sent on Wednesday of this week an email to ATF, asking that I be permitted to tell agents about Jeff’s death. That email has not been sent to agents yet but I read it to you here today.

To the special agents of the ATF, though many of you have heard, I want to write to personally inform you of the death of my husband, special agent Jeffrey P. Ryan on Monday. To avoid speculation or rumor I also want to let you know a few additional facts.

Jeff took his life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest that killed him within a matter of moments. Jeff’s decision to take his life is a decision he made on Monday morning and executed shortly thereafter.

As many of you know, Jeff was present on Aug. 31, 2001, during attempted service of a search and arrest warrant that resulted in a protracted exchange of gunfire with the suspect and the death of deputy Jake Kuredjian who was next to Jeff at the time. In the days that followed, Jeff was overcome with grief. He called ATF’s peer support contact in the evening who said she couldn’t speak and would call him back.

Jeff never received a return call. He later learned that she was at a bar drinking with other agents. Jeff did not again seek counseling for his grief until years later.

Jeff also requested a number of times that ATF correct misstatements in reports concerning the incident and Jeff never received a response to these requests.

As a result of his request, Jeff was falsely maligned and suffered other negative consequences. Earlier this year, Jeff sent his last written request for answers to his questions.

In response, Jeff was requested to undergo a psychiatric fitness for duty evaluation, which Jeff did and was removed from active duty status including loss of his badge and his duty weapon while the evaluation was pending.

Jeff at all times fulfilled his duty as an ATF agent and was at all times fit for duty.

I add to this letter now that any claim or suspicion that Jeff Ryan was unfit for duty is nothing short of laughable. His integrity, loyalty, and compassion were unrivaled.

He reached out to other agents who were involved in shootings to offer support. In the last several months even with the results of his evaluation pending, Jeff has faithfully performed his duties, has been the most wonderful husband and father and has been making plans for the future.
