Scott Conant is an American chef, TV show judge, author, and restaurateur.
After being enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America, he got a chance to do an internship at San Domenico, a famous restaurant in New York City.
There, he learned many skills which greatly impacted him. After graduation, he went to Munich, Germany, where he learned the art of pastry at Hotel Bayerischer Hof.
After that, he returned to the United States and became a sous chef at the San Domenico.
In 1995, he was selected to be a chef at il Toscanaccio, and Cesare Casella selected him. He was also a chef at famous Italian restaurants like Chianti and City Eatery, which helped him build his experience and portfolio.
In 2002, Conant officially became a restaurant owner when he opened L’Impero in Tudor City, Manhattan. The restaurant received a three-star rating from the New York Times for Best New Restaurant and praise from top publications like Food and Wine. The restaurant’s special pasta was featured on the cover page of Food and Wine.
After L’Impero became successful, Scott opened an elegant Italian restaurant in midtown Manhattan named Alto. He continued to bring his Italian cooking to life, and after some time, he opened Scarpetta in New York City.
