Sarah Simental Wiki – Sarah Simental Biography
Sarah Simental was supposed to graduate from Lincoln Way East in Frankfort in a few months, instead her family is planning her funeral. Sarah, a high school senior and pet shelter volunteer from suburban Chicago, first complained of mild cold-like symptoms on December 19. Her condition rapidly deteriorated and she was eventually airlifted to a hospital, where she went into respiratory failure and suffered a brain bleed. Parents Deborah and Don Simental said Sarah had no underlying medical conditions that would have placed her at greater risk for the disease.
Simental, from Tinley Park, Illinois, lost her battle with the virus on Sunday, a week after receiving her diagnosis. Parents Deborah and Donald Simental said Sarah was an otherwise healthy teenager with no underlying medical condition before the coronavirus wreaked havoc on her body.
‘She went into cardiac arrest, she had a brain bleed, it was deteriorating her kidneys, it just ate her through,’ Deborah told WLS-TV. ‘No parent should ever have to watch their child go through that. Nobody.’
But the high school student’s condition rapidly deteriorated and her mother took her to get a COVID test on December 19, which came back positive the next day.

Sarah Simental was 18 years old.
Family
Her parents rushed Sarah to Silver Cross Hospital two days before Christmas, but her health continued rapidly declining, and she was eventually airlifted to University of Chicago Medical Center, according to reporting by the Chicago Tribune.
‘I know she fought because one of the last times I was able to talk to her on the phone, they were taking her from the regular room to ICU and she said “I am going to be OK, mom,” and that was the last thing,’ Deborah recalled.
Sarah’s parents said their daughter was spending much of her time at home with her family and her dog, Bailey, and they do not know where she contracted the virus.
Her 20-year-old brother, Matthew, had come down with a mild case of the disease in August and recovered. The Simentals said they have decided to share their daughter’s story to remind the public that COVID-19 does not only affect the elderly, or people with underlying health conditions.
‘Sarah is an example that it can happen to the youngest and healthiest people,’ Deborah said.
Cause of Death
Sarah died of COVID-19 is speaking out, urging anyone who believes the virus is a hoax to think again. Two days before Christmas, the 18-year-old was admitted to Silver Cross Hospital. Her symptoms got worse fast. Later, airlifted to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where doctors tried to save Sarah’s life.
“I know she fought because one of the last times I was able to talk to her on the phone, they were taking her from the regular room to ICU and she said ‘I am going to be OK, mom,’ and that was the last thing,” said Simental.
She did not make it.
“She went into cardiac arrest, she had a brain bleed, it was deteriorating her kidneys, it just ate her through,” said Simental. “No parent should ever have to watch their child go through that. Nobody.”
Sarah had not been out of the house very much so her mom is not sure how she contracted the virus. The teen was spending more time at home during the pandemic with her family and her dog Bailey. Her family shares an important message.
“Please take this coronavirus seriously,” said her father Don Simental.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at Lawn Funeral Home in Orland Park. Instead of flowers, her family is asking for donations to P.A.W.S. of Tinley Park where Sarah spent a lot of her time.
