Saoirse Ronan is an Irish and American actress. She distinguished herself as a young actress with her role in the 2007 film, Atonement. Since then, she hasn’t looked back but is only growing in her career. She has been nominated for three Oscars after her recent nomination for her role in Lady Bird.
Saoirse has received numerous awards for her various roles, including the 2018 Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and the Gotham Independent Film Award for Best Actress.

Born as Saoirse (meaning freedom in traditional Irish and pronounced Sir-shuh) Una Ronan, she is the only child of her Irish parents, Monica (née Brennan) and Paul Ronan, an Irish actor. His parents are both from Dublin, Ireland. Saoirse Ronan greeted Mother Earth with her first cries on April 12, 1994 in the Bronx, New York. The star has dual Irish and American nationality.
She comes from an acting family with a mother who acted as a child and a father trained as an actor after working in construction and as a bartender. She identified her roots at the age of 3 when her family moved to Dublin, Ireland and briefly settled in County Carlow. As teenagers, they moved to Howth, where she would later buy a house in 2013.
She attended a local school but was later homeschooled by a private tutor.Saoirse lives in Greystones, County Wicklow, Ireland.

Career
Her father always took his little girl to rehearsals where she was fascinated by the world of acting and would make a splash there in the future.
Fast forward to that future, she made her film debut in 2003 with the Irish medical drama series, The Clinic and in feature films in 2007 with a part in I Could Never Be Your Wife. The same year, she appeared in a supporting role as Briony Tallis in the film, The Atonement. It became her breakthrough, making her also take home the top Irish Film and Television Award for Best Supporting Actress.
The young starlet became the next big thing and appeared in a number of films taking on challenging roles different from the previous ones. Some of her films include The Beautiful Bones (2009) where she played the role of a murdered young girl seeking revenge, Hanna (2011) she played a teenage assassin, Byzantium (2012) she portrayed a vampire and in 2014 she starred as a chef in The Grand Budapest Hotel.
For her starring role in the 2015 film, Brooklyn Saoirse earned her second Oscar nomination. She made her Broadway debut as Abigail Williams in The Crucible (2016). Booming in her career, she landed the lead role in Greta Gerwig’s film Lady Bird where she played a high school student. This role led her to host Saturday Night Live for the first time and earn a third Oscar nomination.
She became a Fellow of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2010 and an Ambassador for the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
