Sally Bercow is a British political activist and British politician John Bercow’s wife. Bercow came to the fore when she actively campaigned for Tony Blair, the last leader of the ‘ Labour Party ‘ to become UK prime minister 1997–2007.

As a ‘ Labour ‘ activist, Bercow campaigned extensively for Tony Blair and then for the election of Ed Balls as the ‘ Labour Party ‘ leader in the 2010 ‘ Labour ‘ leadership election. In 2010, she stood unsuccessfully as a ‘ Labour ‘ candidate for the ‘ Westminster City Council ‘ ward of the St. James. Bercow did not hide her ambition to become a ‘ Labour ‘ MP for the marginal Brighton Kemptown seat.
In 2015, it was reported that Bercow would stand on the retirement of Frank Dobson for Holborn and St. Pancras. It was also revealed that she would become Harrow East’s ‘ Labour ‘ prospective parliamentary candidate (PPC).
Bercow’s political affiliations have always been a topic for debate, primarily because her husband is a Speaker who is supposed to remain impartial in his political views. Because of his unlikely journey from being a hard-right’ conservative’ to a speaker with’ Labour’ patronage, he is already hated by the’ Tories.’ It is often speculated that the political views of Sally may jeopardize the neutral position of her husband.
In 2011, against her husband’s wishes, Bercow appeared as a contestant in the eighth season of the popular TV reality show’ Big Brother.’ However, she was the first to be evicted from the house after being nominated by a fellow housewife, former pop star Kerry Katona. Bercow is reportedly happy with this participation because, through her appearance on the show, she helped raise £ 100,000 for an autism charity.
Bercow also appeared in a celebrity edition of’ The Chase ‘ and ‘ Big Star’s Little Star ‘ (with her daughter, Jemima, in the latter). She was initially scheduled to take part in the second series of’ The Jump ‘ but had to quit during training after suffering an injury.
