Ryan Peniston made his ETN debut today. And surprisingly, he has secured the victory of his life by defeating world number 5, Casper Ruud.

Ryan Peniston Talks About Rhabdomyosarcoma Diagnosis As A Child

Ryan Peniston, a British citizen, is reminded of his battle with cancer as he wins over Casper Ruud. He talked about the Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) diagnosis when he was one year old.

RMS is an uncommon childhood cancer that forms in soft tissue. It may arise from anywhere in the body, from the head and neck region, a urinary system like the bladder, the reproductive system, arms, and legs.

He underwent surgery to remove a tumor before enduring chemotherapy in London for a long time. Finally, a year after starting chemotherapy, the 26-year-old was declared cancer-free.

But, he was not much aware of those things before ten years. He was a child at that time. Thus, he became interested in the topic and asked his parents about it.

The reason could be his slow growth during his teenage years.

Did Ryan Peniston Had Eye Cancer? Update On His Health

Ryan Peniston has been open about his childhood illness. He recently talked about it as well. Although he was little to remember those things, he asked his parents about it after hearing it several times from others.

He has talked about cancer but did not mention which part of his body was affected because the kind of cancer he was diagnosed with could appear in any part.

Nonetheless, some said that his eyes were the ones that were affected. Such form of Rhabdomyosarcoma is called the orbit. It represents the head and neck region.

With about 35 new cases yearly, orbital RMS is children’s most prevalent primary orbital cancer. Orbital Rhabdomyosarcoma is a cancerous tumor that ophthalmologists frequently observe, and early detection can save a person’s life.

Primary Orbital RMS is mostly a condition of young children, with 90 percent of cases occurring before the age of 16 and average onset age of 5-7 years. But, since the player mentioned that he was diagnosed when he was one year old, it may not be his eyes that underwent treatment.

What Symptoms Of Rhabdomyosarcoma Did Ryan Peniston Suffer?

Ryan Peniston talks about his illness of Rhabdomyosarcoma. He suffered from it for one year, but the impact of the surgery and chemo caused problems for him until his teenage years.

His growth was affected by the treatment as he mentioned he was a foot shorter than his friends who were the same age as him. Now, he is 6 ft tall, which he appreciates because he was shorter during his younger days.

On the other hand, talking about the cancer symptoms differs based on which part of the body has cancer. People with problems in the eyes feel headaches, bulging or swelling of the eyes, bleeding in the nose, throat, or ears, and those whose arms or legs are affected will suffer from swelling or a lump and pain in the affected area as per Mayo Clinic.
