Ruth Madoff is famous for being the widow of Bernie Madoff.

She graduated from Far Rockaway Hich School, then Queens College in 1961 with a Psychology degree, and finally from New York University with a Master of Science in nutrition in 1992. She is the former director of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities.

As for her current whereabouts, she seems to be living with Susan Elkin. Reportedly, she moved into a $4.4 million beachfront property in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, with her former daughter-in-law from her elder son Mark Madoff’s first marriage in September 2020.

Ruth’s son, who hung himself to death on 11 December 2010, and his wife share two children, Daniel and Kate Madoff. The owners of the multi-million dollar house are 56-year-old Susan and her husband Richard Elkin, president of Gotham Technologies. 

Likewise, she has a history of living with one of her sons, Andrew, in that area. She moved to his house in 2012 after spending two years with her sister in Boca Raton, Florida. Following the death of her child, she moved to a 989-square-foot one-bedroom apartment in a nondescript condo complex.

Ruth Madoff’s husband was Bernie Madoff.

He was an American fraudster and financer behind the largest Ponzi scheme in history, worth about $64.8 billion. NASDAQ stock exchange’s former chairman advanced the proliferation of electronic trading platforms and the concept for order flow.

On 10 December 2008, Ruth’s sons, Mark and Andrew, confessed their father’s frauds to the authorities leading to an arrest on the next day. Police charged him with one count of securities fraud. A year later, on 29 June, the court sentenced him to 150 years in prison. 

After over a decade of imprisonment, Bernie died due to chronic kidney disease at the Federal Medical Center, Butner, on 14 April 2021, aged 82.

Besides her husband, Ruth’s also had two children, Andrew and Mark. Both of them are dead. Speaking about her family, Saul and Sara (Presser) Alpern are her parents. They died at the ages of 95 and 92, respectively. 

Likewise, Ruth also has two grandchildren, Anne and Emily, from Andrew’s side and two, Daniel and Kate, from Mark’s side. Similarly, her sister is Joan Roman.
