Russell Tillis has been charged with two life sentences and an extra 30 years in prison.
He recently asked for a new trial but it was immediately rejected since he came out of the death penalty.
It has been reported that he is facing 2 life sentences for the first-degree murder of Joni Gunter and the additional 30 years is for cutting her dead body.
For this, it was decided that he would face the death penalty. But, considering his childhood trauma of his father’s sexual abuse, he got away from it.
Hence, it was reduced to 2 life sentences with no parole, and extra years.
