Ruskin Bond (born 19 May 1934) is an Indian novelist of British ancestry who lives in the United Kingdom. The Indian Council for Child Education recognised his pioneering role in the development of children’s literature in India, and the Sahitya Akademi Award for Our Trees Still Grow in Dehra, given by the Sahitya Akademi, India’s National Academy of Literature, was given to him in 1992 for his book Our Trees Still Grow in Dehra. In 1999, he received the Padma Shri award, and in 2014, he received the Padma Bhushan honour. He currently lives with his adoptive family in Landour, a village near Mussoorie, where he was born.
