Rukiya Bernard is a multi-talented Canadian actor, producer, and interior designer who was born in Toronto, Ontario on January 20, 1983.
Her parents, Nyakiringa Magugu and Gilbert Bernard, fostered in her a passion for athletics and the arts from a young age. She enjoyed basketball, track, ballet, karate, and playing the piano.
Rukiya graduated from Ryerson University’s theatrical program with honors. She made her acting debut in Ernest Dickerson’s award-winning film Our America, alongside Josh Charles, Irma P. Hall, and Mykelti Williamson.
Since then, she has appeared in numerous TV shows and movies, including SyFy’s Van Helsing, The CW’s Supernatural, A&E’s The Returned, USA Network’s Fairly Legal, Hallmark’s The Gourmet Detective, NBC’s Eureka, Showtime’s The L Word, SyFy’s Sanctuary and SGU Stargate Universe, BBC America’s Intruders, Lifetime’s Witches Of The East End, and movies such as The Cabin In The Woods, Stuck, and That Burning Feeling.
