Rugby: Jamie Rees Obituary & Cardiac Arrest Linked To His Death Cause

Jamie Rees of Rugby, Warwickshire, passed away on 5 January 2022.

Reportedly, he suffered a cardiac arrest without any warning four days prior. At that time, he was with his friends in Hillmorton for the New Year celebration.

His friends did their best to save him. With no public defibrillator nearby, they relied on CPR. One of his friends and friend’s father managed to resuscitate him.

Then the police came and took over with the procedure. However, there was a delay in the ambulance’s arrival from Coventry. And despite the efforts, Jamie’s brain hadn’t received Oxygen for a long time, which resulted in his death a few days later in University Hospital Coventry.

He had become the Organ Donor’s Register when he was 16. Five people, including two children, received his organs. His liver got transplanted to a baby girl, saving her life on the day of his death.

Jamie’s after-death ceremony was on 22 February at Rainsbrook Crematorium.

His mother, Naomi Issitt, launched a fundraiser to have defibrillators installed across the town with the hope of saving someone’s life. So far, 411 people have donated £9,658 ($12,753).
