During Larry Hogan’s tenure as governor of Maryland, Roy McGrath, a wanted man, served as one of his closest advisors.
The Maryland Environmental Service (MES), where McGrath served as executive director, paid him a sizeable severance payout in 2021, but there were claims that he had misled to the authorities to obtain it.
Hogan reportedly granted his blessing, according to McGrath. Even though he collaborates with law enforcement and has not been charged with any crimes, the governor has continuously denied knowing about it. Despite receiving criticism for the severance compensation he received from the Maryland Environmental Service, McGrath resigned from his position as chief of staff on August 17, 2020, having started on June 1, 2020.
