American football player Roquan Daevon Smith competes for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL) as an inside linebacker at the moment. He was the first Bulldog to represent Georgia in the Butkus Award ceremony and previously played college football for Georgia.
At first, Smith decided to play collegiate football for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), but he later switched to the University of Georgia. He was the SEC Defensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press and the MVP of the SEC Championship Game in 2017 while playing for Georgia under head coaches Mark Richt and Kirby Smart.
Smith was selected by the Chicago Bears with the eighth overall choice in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft after opting to skip his final year of eligibility. However, contract disagreements between the Bears and Smith’s agent CAA Football caused a considerable delay in the signing of his deal.
Smith had a tremendous season in his first NFL campaign, starting with a sack on his very first snap in the league and concluding with 121 tackles, five sacks, five passes defended, and one interception. In 2018, Pro Football Focus gave him an overall grade of 67.4, and he was chosen as a Pro Bowl alternate.
