Ronald Miscavige Sr. was married to Loretta Miscavige, with whom he had four children. The couple was of Roman Catholic Polish-Italian lineage, and David Miscavige is his youngest son. Ron Miscavige was a trumpet player and was the first in his family to become interested in Scientology. In his book, he regretfully recounts his abusive marriage with Loretta and their divorce.
He sent David to a Scientologist to cure his asthma, and both father and son claimed that David was fully cured. The family joined the church in 1971 and moved to the Scientology global headquarters in Saint Hill Manor, England. There, Ron and David’s relationship became strained as the younger Miscavige grew closer to the founder of Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard. At the age of 76 (and after spending 45 years in the church), Miscavige and his second wife left the church. His older son, Ron Miscavige Jr., left the church many years before the Miscavige patriarch did.
In 2012, Miscavige and his wife, Becky drove out of the Gold Base (the church’s compound in California) under the pretext of “running errands.” After leaving the church, they settled in a small town in Milwaukee. According to reports, he spends his time hawking exercise equipment and playing the trumpet with Dixieland bands.
His wife is the daughter of Tom Bigelow, a famous race car driver from Wisconsin. Becky worked to market the church and now works as a manager for a women’s clothing store in Milwaukee.
Miscavige’s peaceful life was disrupted when he was informed by authorities that two private detectives were following him. Those two men were revealed to be hired by David Miscavige and the church, who refuted the claims that Ron Miscavige was under their surveillance.
David Helped His Dad with a Sexual Harassment Charge
Ron Miscavige was accused of attempted rape on one of the congregation’s women. At age 25, David was already an influential figure in the church and helped him out of the case. When the older Miscavige was accused, he called his son. The next day, the church’s attorney showed up with a suitcase full of cash to bail him out. Eventually, at the trial, the woman came to the stand but said that she couldn’t tell if it was Miscavige who attempted to rape her. So, the case was dismissed, and he was out scot-free.
In his book, Miscavige described both the horrible treatment by his son and the good things he did, as well. While David often verbally abused his father in front of others, he also bought him a house, a car, and 75 gifts for his 75th birthday.

David Miscavige’s dad says the wife of Scientology leader will ‘never be free’
The wife of Scientology leader David Miscavige will never be free from the church’s grasp, her father-in-law said in an interview airing Sunday.
Ron Miscavige, David’s dad, added to “60 Minutes Australia” that no one may ever know the whereabouts of his daughter-in-law, Shelly Miscavige, who allegedly hasn’t been seen in public for years.
“Shelly, she’ll never be free,” Ron Miscavige, who left the church in 2012, told the TV show, according to 9News.
“These are pretty bad people, but they don’t have a conscience and that lets them do it.”
People believe that Shelly — once dubbed the “Queen of Scientology” — was banished in 2005 by her husband, who took the church’s reigns in 1986 following the death of founder L. Ron Hubbard.
Actress Leah Remini, who left the church in 2013, has long been fighting to find out what happened to her friend Shelly. Remini reportedly questioned guests at Tom Cruise’s 2006 wedding to Katie Holmes about Shelly’s whereabouts and filed a missing person’s report with the Los Angeles Police Department in 2013.
Detectives closed the case after saying they’d met with Shelly in person, reports said.
But Remini maintained that she still needed answers about Shelly, stating in 2016: “I do not know that she is alive.
“‘Shelly is fine, and she’s alive.’ … That’s the PR line. I don’t believe that,” she added to “60 Minutes” on Sunday.
The Church of Scientology told Page Six in a statement Sunday: “Ron Miscavige is seeking to make money on the name of his famous son. Any father exploiting his son in this manner is a sad exercise in betrayal.
“Leah Remini has been stalking Mr. and Mrs. Miscavige for years because of her psychotic obsession. It is time for her to stop.”
Ron Miscavige Book
Ruthless: Scientology, My Son David Miscavige, and Me
Ruthless: Scientology, My Son David Miscavige, and Me is a book by Ron Miscavige and Dan Koon, published in 2016 by St. Martin’s Press in the United States and Silvertail Books in the United Kingdom.
Written by the father of Scientology leader David Miscavige, it presents a personal account of life in the Church of Scientology, the rise of David Miscavige to the church’s leadership, and the aftermath of Ron Miscavige’s decision to leave the church.
Background
St. Martin’s Press, the book’s US publisher, describes it as “a riveting insider’s look at life within the world of Scientology” which tells the story of “David Miscavige’s childhood and his path to the head seat of the Church of Scientology told through the eyes of his father.”
According to the UK publisher, “Ron (Miscavige) traces the arc of David’s life from his early years to David’s eventual, stellar rise to power in Scientology; his brutal approach to running the organisation today; and the disastrous effects that his leadership has had on countless numbers of Scientologists and their families.”
Ruthless tells of how Ron Miscavige and his family joined Scientology in 1971, living for a while in the UK, before moving back to Pennsylvania. By the age of 16 his son David had become a confidant of Scientology’s founder, L. Ron Hubbard, and had joined the inner core of the church, the Sea Org. He took over the leadership of Scientology when Hubbard died in 1986.
In 2012, after gaining access to the full Internet via a Kindle, Ron Miscavige discovered new information about the church and subsequently left the Church of Scientology. The Los Angeles Times reported that he was put under surveillance by the Church, which was said to have paid two private investigators to watch him around the clock for 18 months at a cost of $10,000 a week. The surveillance was said to have been “all because Miscavige feared that his father would divulge too much about the organization’s activities.”
At one point, the investigators were said to have phoned David Miscavige when they thought his father was having a heart attack and were allegedly told not to intervene: “if it was Ron’s time to die, to let him die and not intervene in any way”. Miscavige denied having ordered the surveillance or speaking to one of the investigators. The incident prompted Ron Miscavige to write the book. According to Tony Ortega, a journalist, and writer on Scientology, Ruthless was originally titled If He Dies, He Dies in reference to the “heart attack” incident.
The book is the second memoir to have been published by one of David Miscavige’s relatives, after his niece, Jenna Miscavige Hill published Beyond Belief: My Secret Life Inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape in 2012. The release of the book was preceded by an interview with Ron Miscavige on ABC’s long-running news show 20/20, broadcast on April 29. 2016.
In March 2017, Ron Miscavige was the guest on The Thinking Atheist podcast where he was interviewed by host Seth Andrews. Miscavige discussed this book in detail and elaborated on his escape from Scientology. Miscavige also appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast on April 18. 2017 for an interview about his life in Scientology as detailed in this book.
Ron Miscavige Joe Rogan
Ron was interview by legendary comedian Joe Rogan on the “Joe Rogan Experience Podcast”. The Church of Scientology actually contacted Joe prior to this interview to get ahead of what Ron was going to share on the show.
Rogan, I’m not impressed with your condescendence
He had on Ron Miscavige, the father of David Miscavige, the chief of the Church of Scientology. Ron had written a book exposing all the lies and facade of Scientology, labeling it as what everyone outside of that organization thinks it is, a cult. Ron went on to detail how he had a normal relationship with his son until David rose up through the ranks of the Church, helping them not to have to pay taxes, and at that point how having power corrupted David.
To be fair, he let Ron say everything he wanted to say and to sell the book he wrote for most of the podcast. But for some reason, Rogan thought that in the last 25 minutes, he should sway the podcast so that he could be in a point in that conversation where he can pass judgment. He surmised and brought up how he felt Ron, being the guy that introduced David to Scientology, was at fault for the whole debacle the Church finds itself in. That issue had to be discussed, but Rogan could’ve been way better about it than he actually was.
What is worse he turned the podcast into being awkwardly comical towards the end, talking about how good-looking Tom Cruise is, and how he must have been paraded around in a man-operated carriage. He willfully tried to discredit his own guest and what Ron had to say for most of the podcast because he must’ve thought that Ron was an overbearing dad to his son (but that really was beside the point in the context of having a podcast).
Towards the end, Rogan was going full-retard Napoleonic complex manlet insecure cunty bitch: talking over his own guest, who by the way is 80 years old. Being completely condescending, almost to the point that he could’ve pinched the guy’s cheeks and made babyfaces.

Ron Miscavige West Allis
Ron Miscavige Still living in West Allis, Still Drawing Crowds Talking Scientology
Miscavige‘s official title is Chairman of the Board of the Religious Technology Center, but he is also recognized as the leader of the Church of Scientology.
David Miscavige’s estranged father Ron Miscavige currently lives in West Allis. Last year he toured the country to promote a tell-all book about Scientology and his son. But on Tuesday he was back in the Milwaukee-area to talk to a big crowd at the Greenfield Public Library.
Ron Miscavige tells CBS 58’s Jacob Kittilstad that he now spends a lot of his downtime playing music (and that he actually has a gig lined up at the VA hospital later this summer with his Dixie Land Band). But he also says that it’s these talks – focusing on his separation from his family – that’s most important to him.
Ron Miscavige says a lot has happened since he put out his book titled “Ruthless” about one year ago.
“I was on Leah Remini’s show ‘Scientology and the Aftermath’ on A&E. I was on Joe Rogan’s show – I don’t know if many of your listeners know about that,” Ron Miscavige said.
Ron talks a lot about raising his son David and how the family got involved in the Church of Scientology. He likes to point people to his website for more in-depth information that he has put together. But he is also can sum up his story in a few sentences.
“I escaped from the church on March 25, 2012. About a year and a half later they caught a private investigator trying to buy a house around the corner from my house in West Allis,” Ron Miscavige said.
“Since I left the church, they had my family disconnect from me. I lost my family,” Ron Miscavige said.
He says run-ins with private investigators – and getting a deeper understanding of how people are affected by Scientology – is what compelled him to share his life story.
When the book first came out the Church of Scientology dismissed it as a father’s sad attempt to gain publicity. But other groups, including Mythicist Milwaukee, disagree.
“We’re really inspired by people that tell their story on how religion has affected them in one way or another. And to find out that he was in West Allis, it was just…it was great, a great opportunity to meet him and help him. We’ve got his website back up, his social media back up,” Sean Fracek, co-founder of Mythicist Milwaukee, said. The group organized the talk at the Greenfield Public Library.
“The church bought over 500 variations of my name so no matter how you go on the internet it will take you to their hate site where they’re trying to character assassinate me which, I’ll be honest with you, I don’t even care,” Ron Miscavige said.
Ron Miscavige is originally from Pennsylvania but now considers himself a Wisconsinite. He says that lately, he has not had any run-ins with private investigators near his home. But he says he did approach a group of people who were following him during a recent vacation to Florida.
Ron Miscavige Music
Since its initial development in the mid-1950s, the Church of Scientology has garnered a reputation as one of the most controversial religions in the world. Originally conceived by American science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology has come under intense public scrutiny for its controversial practices, with many former members accusing the organization of mistreating its loyalists while employing damaging policies against ex-Scientologists which they say have been instrumental in destroying many families.
Ron Miscavige is the father of David Miscavige, the undisputed leader of Scientology who assumed control of the group following Hubbard’s death in 1986. Ron was associated with Scientology for 42 years and served as a member of the Sea Organization – Scientology’s highest branch – before departing in 2012.
Ron partnered with St. Martin’s Press to pen his memoir, Ruthless: Scientology, My Son David Miscavige, and Me. The book was released on May 2016 and reached the top spot on the New York Times Best Sellers list.
Ron Miscavige kindly spoke with me on the morning of July 11 to discuss the book, his decades-long tenure in Scientology and the state of the organization under his son David’s regime.”
