Ronald Lyle Goldman, popularly known as Ron Goldman was an American restaurant waiter and a friend of Nicole Brown Simpson, the ex-wife of O.J. Simpson. He was murdered along with Brown at Brown’s home in Los Angeles, California, on June 12, 1994.

Ron Goldman Family

Goldman was born to Sharon Rufo and Fred Goldman. His parents divorced when he was 6 years old when his father was granted custody and this left a deep impact on his life. He was initially raised by his mother but later lived with Fred and his younger sister, Kim, in Buffalo Grove, near Chicago.
He had a younger sister named Kim Goldman. This led to a very distant relationship between Ron and Kim, and their mother. Goldman and his younger sister Kim were raised by their father Fred after their parents divorced in 1974.

In order to gain experience in managing a restaurant, he worked as a waiter in various bars and restaurants in the neighborhood.

He even worked as a promoter at a Century City dance club, known as ‘Tripps,’ and at the club ‘Renaissance’ with his friends. He was a popular figure who got along well with both his peers and his customers. His employers thought he had the ideal temperament for the restaurant business.

Ron Goldman Death

On the evening of Sunday, 12 June 1994, Goldman was a waiter at Mezzaluna Trattoria, a restaurant located at 11750 San Vicente Boulevard in Brentwood. Brown had called there to report that her mother, Juditha Brown, had accidentally left her sunglasses on the table. They were discovered in the gutter outside the restaurant after a quick search.

He agreed to take them to her home after work though he had not served her table. Goldman stopped at his apartment before returning the sunglasses, located at 11663 Gorham Avenue in Brentwood. He had after-work plans with his friend, Stewart Tanner, Mezzaluna’s bartender, who said that he was going to go home and change and then we were going to go out. The Los Angeles Times reported that Goldman punched out at 9:33 pm and stayed another 15 minutes to have bottled water at the bar.

He then left, still in his uniform, black pants, and white shirt, his tie shed. He carried the glasses that Brown wanted to be returned to her. When Goldman arrived at Brown’s residence, at 875 South Bundy Drive, he was stabbed to death along with her, on the walkway leading to the condominium. He was just a few weeks shy of his 26th birthday.

During a reconstruction of the events, the police came to believe he had arrived during or shortly after Nicole’s death. His family believes that Goldman died trying to save Brown from her attacker and that he was the man who eyewitnesses heard shouting that night. His body, along with Brown’s, was found shortly after midnight, when police arrived at the crime scene. He is buried in Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park in Westlake Village, California.
