Currently, he is working as a former editor of the Telegram news channel NEXTA and NEXTA Live. Pratasevich co-administered a significant group(social media network) in Vkonte. The group was formed in opposition to President Alexander Lukashenko till 2012.

Why Was Roman Protasevich Arrested?
Belarusian police took Roman Protasevich after landing the plane in Minsk.
On May 23, 2021, Ryanair Flight 49478 with Protasevich on board intercepted in Belarusian airspace by a Belarusian fighter jet. The plane was diverted by Belarusian traffic control to Minsk International Airport. As per the Minsk airport staff, they had been reported of a bomb abroad. However, the Lithuanian airport authorities stated they were not informed about the three.
After that, in Minsk, he was removed from the plane and arrested. However, they could not find any bomb aboard.
In a press-service, the Belarusian president, Alexandre Lukashenko, sent Belarusian Air force MiG-29 fighter aircraft to escort it.
