Rodney’s victims were mostly women and teenage girls. Some call him “The Killing Machine,” but he’s more commonly known as “The Dating Game Killer,” a name he adopted after appearing on the show “The Dating Game” in the midst of his atrocities in 1978.

Rodney Alcala Bio
He was born on Rodrigo Jacques Alcala Buquor23. August 1943 to Raoul Alcala Buquor and Anna Maria Gutierrez, his Mexican parents in San Antonio, Texas. As an adult, he was diagnosed with Antisocial Personality Disorder, as well as Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, and other abnormalities. At the age of 17 and in 1960 he enlisted in the army but left in 1964 after suffering a nervous breakdown.
Rodney unleashed the beast in him when he left the military. He had raped and beat eight-year-old Tali Shapiro after luring her to his apartment in 1968. His killing spree earned him a spot on the FBI’s 1971 list of the Ten Most Wanted Fugitives and fled to New York. He had enrolled in NYU film school and was able to fool people about his background.
Being on the FBI’s most wanted list, two of the kids recognized his photo from the list at their local post office and immediately got in touch. The school was tasked with passing on the information to the authorities. Despite the police wanting so badly to frame him for Tali Shapiro’s attack, the girl’s family had fled the country and denied their daughter to testify. Rodney was then sentenced to a reduced sentence after pleading guilty to a lesser charge.
After around 34 months, the serial killer appeared He got a job as a typesetter in Los Angeles and went on to become a self-proclaimed professional photographer. While he managed to woo women to pose nude, he also took photos at events like weddings and fashion shows. During this time he got a spot on the Dating Game Show.

Rodney Alcala is dubbed the Dating Game Killer for being a contestant on the popular The Dating Game Show. Alcala was a charming and handsome young man who won the bachelor of the episode of the day. Excitedly, Cheryl Bradshaw, the bachelor on the show, had chosen Alcala as her date from eight eligible bachelors. Rodney was introduced to the audience and other attendees as a successful photographer – and everyone had no idea he was a serial killer.
But then, after the show, Bradshaw turned down Rodney’s offer to go on a date with him. As they chatted backstage, Alcala offered her a date after the show, but Bradshaw, feeling quite distraught about his role, turned down his offer and they went their separate ways. In her opinion, there was something creepy about him. One of the show’s bachelors, actor Jed Mills, recalled that he (Rodney Alcala) was acting very strange, always looking down and not making eye contact.
A good number of men always find it hard to deal with rejection from the opposite sex, but few would imagine that it could transform Alcala into the man he became – a notorious serial killer. According to investigations, Rodney Alcala killed more than three women, including 12-year-old Robin Samsoe, after his dating game failed. Bradshaw’s rejection of Rodney obviously aggravated and unleashed the beast in him, and he didn’t hesitate to speak out to innocent citizens.
