Charges – Arrested

A Florida man was arrested in the early hours of Saturday, March 6, after the remains of his newly married wife were found in the backyard of their Boynton Beach home, police said. The discovery came after the man challenged the police to “find the body.”

Roberto Colón was booked into the Palm Beach County Main Jail on a first-degree murder charge. The victim, Colón’s wife, Mary Stella Gomez-Mullet, was reported missing on February 20, 2021, when one of her friends contacted the police department and said she had last spoken to her about phone two days ago.

Later, her friend revealed that she had heard Gomez-Mullet yell, “No, no, not Roberto!” and yelling the name of her friend before she disconnected the call. When she tried to return the call, the call went directly to voicemail.

On the same day, when a friend of Mullet’s filed a report, police received a tip that there was a bloody purse less than a mile from Colón’s home. Later, family members confirmed the items, which included a crucifix hanging from a white rosary chain that belonged to Mullet.

According to the police report, “all the family and friends insisted that something must have happened to Gómez.” Colón claimed that he left the house to go to a doctor’s appointment, and when he returned, Mullet was gone.

On February 24, 2021, when detectives arrived at his home for a follow-up interview, they discovered that most of his call and text history had been erased. They also saw a red mark on the front door of their house that looked like blood splattered on the floor, walls, windows, and even on the ceiling of his workshop. When asked about the bloodstains, Colón emphasized that it must have come from his dog; It was later confirmed that he was human.

But on March 5, 2021, detectives arrested Colón, not for the murder of his wife, but for possession of marijuana found in his apartment during the previous search. Two days earlier, a source told police that he overheard Colón and Gómez-Mullet arguing about her weeks before her and that Colón threatened to kill her and bury her in her backyard.

When detectives came to check the apartment again on March 5, 2021, they found human remains in the backyard, which belonged to Mullet. Colon was taken to the Boynton Beach Police Department.

Investigation Report

After two days, when investigators arrived to search his apartment, Colón was combative, challenging them to “find the body, find the body.” According to the police report, he described his workshop as a “slaughterhouse” or a place where animals are slaughtered, and his wife as a “piece of shit whore.” When the investigators were leaving, he smiled and said, “At least they didn’t find a body in my house.”
