News is unveiling fresh evidence in killing a Philadelphia schoolteacher, Ellen Greenberg, who was discovered stabbed 20 times more than a decade ago.
Ellen Rae Greenberg was a 27-year-old first-grade teacher at Juniata Park Academy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
She began her profession as a teacher from June 23, 1983, until January 26, 2011.
Furthermore, Ellen Greenberg is the only child of her father, Joshua Greenberg (also known as Josh), and her mother, Sandra (also known as Sandee) Greenberg. Ellen Greenberg was born and raised in New York City, New York.
When Ellen Rae Greenberg was found dead in the apartment, she shared with her fiancé, and she had everything going for her.
Even though she had 20 stab wounds, police say she committed suicide. On the other hand, her distraught parents are convinced she was murdered, and their search for answers has generated major concerns about the investigation.
Details on Ellen Greenberg Death Scene
A blizzard hit Philadelphia on January 26, 2011, forcing Ellen Greenberg to leave work and return to her Manayunk apartment with her fiancé Samuel (Sam) Goldberg, a Gladwyne-based television producer who later worked for Golf.com.
Ellen was pronounced dead at 6:40 p.m. that evening due to twenty stab wounds, ten of which were to Ellen’s back and neck.
Ellen’s right arm, belly, and right leg also had eleven bruises in varying stages of healing. Despite the absence of a suicide note, the crime scene was investigated as a suicide.
Her parents, however, claim she had her life cut short at the age of 27 when she was discovered dead in her Manayunk apartment in 2011 with more than 20 knife wounds to her torso.
The Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office first deemed the case a homicide after the autopsy.
Who was her Fiance Samuel Goldberg?
Samuel Goldberg was Ellen Greenberg’s fiance.
Samuel worked in a Gladwyne- bsed television as a producer for NBC as far as the updates. He later switched to Golf.com.
Sam decided to go to the apartment gym. He returned at 5:30 p.m. and attempted to unlock the apartment door, but it barely moved a few inches; the swing bar lock had been engaged from the inside.
Sam continually rapped on the door, yelling Ellen’s name. Finally, he dialed her number again and sent her a bombardment of texts, but she never responded:
Did Ellen Greenberg commit Suicide Or Homicide?
Ellen Greenberg’s family and lawyers will argue in front of a municipal judge that her death was a homicide, not a suicide.
Ellen Greenberg’s parents filed a civil suit in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas in October 2019 against the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office and Dr. Marlon Osbourne, the pathologist who performed the autopsy.
The lawsuit asks for the method of death to be changed from “homicide” to “undetermined,” citing new information and the fact that Dr. Osbourne admitted to changing the mode of death at the police’s request.
Photogrammetry, a new technology that was not accessible at Ellen’s death, was used to generate a 3D anatomical replica of Ellen’s wounds, revealing that not all 20 wounds were self-inflicted.
In January 2020, Ellen Greenberg’s parents won a major legal win when the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas permitted the case to move past the motion to dismiss stage. As a result, the trial will commence in 2021.
