Rigathi Gachagua is the deputy president of Kenya. He is, also a brother of the former Nyeri county governor Nderitu Gachagua. He was born and brought up in Hiriga village of Mathira Constituency, Nyeri County. Rigathi was an aspirant member of parliament for the Mathira constituency with a jubilee party ticket. He is a former Kiambaa District Officer.

Gachagua was the President’s personal assistant during Uhuru’s time as Kanu chairman, particularly during the period of his failed presidential bid in 2002. Rigathi has been conspicuously present in Gachagua’s functions, especially when his health began to deteriorate.

Rigathi Gachagua Political Career

After the death of his brother-former governor of Nyeri Nderitu Gachagua, he wanted to run for Nyeri gubernatorial race, but he later abandoned it for the Mathira parliamentary seat. He won the party primaries for the Jubilee party to run for Mathira parliamentary seat.
