Ricky Rubio brother Marc Rubio is a basketball shooting guard playing in the EBA League. Marc made his ACB debut in 2004 when he was 17.
The younger generation of the Rubio family inherited their athletic traits from their father Esteve Rubio Bert. Being a coach himself, Esteve laid the sports foundation for his sons since they were young.
Inspired by his dad, Marc debuted in the ACB league with Joventut before joining LEB Oro. Additionally, he worked as a marketing and promotion specialist for the Spanish basketball federation, when he was not playing with the clubs.

His Career As A Basketball Shooting Guard
Marc played for the Joventut de Badalona jersey starting on June 13, 2005. The shooting guard played in the ACB from the 2004–2005 season.
Appearing in five games, he averaged four minutes and 0.4 points per game before joining LEB Plata in 2006 to play with CB Prat from La Penya’s youth club.
According to Scout Basketball, he remained for three seasons under coach Josep Maria Raventós, whom Marc encountered again at Básquet Lleida. Later, he played for Javier Juárez at the Fundació Adepal Alcázar as his first stint outside Catalonia.
While he quit basketball in 2012 and moved to Minnesota to live with Ricky, he eventually returned to the court in 2017 with AE Boet Mataró in the EBA League.
Marc At The Benefit Game Hosted By The Ricky Rubio Foundation
Marc represented the family Foundation for lung cancer patients during a charity match. The match was held on December 11 2022 at Badalona.
The foundation and ‘El basket es vida’ arranged the charity match to be played by celebrities to raise funds for the new pediatric gym at the Vall d’Hebrón Hospital in Barcelona.
As reported by NBN23, the team was coached by Joventut de Badalona players Joel Parra and Albert Ventura.
The Ricky Rubio Foundation Was Founded To Help Children With Lung Cancer
Founded by their dad Esteve, the foundation’s primary purpose was to aid patients suffering from lung cancer in 2018. It improves the overall experience of kids undergoing chemotherapy.
Ricky spent a significant amount of time in hospitals during his mother’s four-year fight with lung cancer. And sadly, Tona Vives succumbed to the disease in May 2016.
The Spanish Guard introduced the “I Am Ready” project to the United States this year. It is a virtual reality application that aims to reduce patients anxiety by explaining treatment procedures and processes.
NBA reports that the ‘I Am Ready’ initiative is one of the pillars of the foundation and an additional method for Rubio to contribute to children positively.
Rubio has spoken at many cancer charity events and donated funds for research. He is doing everything he can to help families feel more at ease in waiting rooms. Well, his father also serves as the president of the foundation.
Marc Rubio Son Max And His Small Family
Marc and his wife Aina Cohí Palacios got married on May 15, 2013. Marc welcomed his son Max as the family’s first child in the following year.
Aina and Marc have been together since their early twenties since his first couple picture was shared in 2012. Esteve Rubio Serves As The President Of The Ricky Rubio Foundation
Ricky Rubio father Esteve Rubio Bert has been the president of RRF since it was founded. Esteve and the family started it after losing his wife to cancer.
The 62-year-old former coach married Ricky and Marc’s mother, Tona, on September 10, 1983. They instilled a love of athletics and modesty in their children since they were young. No matter the sacrifice, Esteve and Tona always wanted to be present at all the games they participated in.
Their younger daughter, Laia, had won the Autonomous Selections for Spanish youngsters. She plays for Platges de Mataró in Catalonia’s Junior Preferred Championship and coaches at the club.
Marc, Ricky, and Laia meant everything to Esteve and Tona, and he still tries to be there when their children need him. He is often pictured spending quality time with his grandchildren, as witnessed on his Instagram.
