Richard Leakey Cause Of Death

Richard Leakey is a Kenyan palaeoanthropologist, conservationist, and politician known for his team’s discovery of Turkana Boy, the name given to fossil KNM-WT 15000, a nearly complete skeleton of a Homo ergaster youth who lived 1.5 to 1.6 million years ago.

Richard Leakey married an archaeologist named Margaret Cropper in 1965. However, the marriage that looked very promising from the start ended after just four years. He then married his colleague Meave Epps in 1970 and they had two daughters, Louise (born 1972) and Samira (1974).

Leakey escaped death in 1993 when a small propeller-driven plane piloted by himself crashed, crushing his lower legs, both of which were later amputated.

Unlucky for him, he couldn’t escape death again. He died at the age of 77 on 2 January 2022.
