Movie icon Jenkins was born on May 4, 1947, in DeKalb, Illinois, where he attended DeKalb High School and then Illinois Wesleyan University to study acting. After graduating from college, he moved to Rohde Island and began working with the Trinity Repertory Company, which landed him a role in the film. Feast with panthers published in 1974.

Other major films he starred in were Me, Me and Irene Say It Ain’t , Hall Pass and Three Stooges. He was cast in the film created by the three Coen brothers and titled: The Man Who Wasn’t There released in 2001, Intolerable Cruelty in 2003, and the 2008 film Burning After Reading
