Conductor and composer Bramwell Tovey passed away at the age of 69, just one day before his birthday on July 12 2022.
Bramwell Tovey, a Grammy Award-winning conductor and well-known composer, is one of the most talented and dynamic artists in the world.
Prior to the COVID-19 epidemic, he conducted the Sarasota Orchestra as a special guest for the 2019–2020 season. The Sarasota Orchestra announced in August 2021 that Tovey had been chosen as its new music director, beginning with the 2022–2023 season, for a four-year starting term. On September 1, 2021, he was supposed to assume the role of music director-designate.
