She is wearing facial prosthetics for her role of convicted killer Pam Hupp in the TV show. Hupp is serving a life sentence for murdering a disabled man named Louis Gumpenberger in 2016.
In the trailer, she looks barely recognizable as Pam. However, this is not the first time, she has gone all out for her character.
Back in 2001, she gained 30 pounds to portray Bridget Jones. At the time, she gained weight naturally while for her new role, she is wearing drastic facial prosthetics and a “padded” bodysuit.

“The Thing About Pam” premiered on March 8, 2022, on NBC. The true-crime series is a six-episode series based on the 2011 murder of Missouri woman Betsy Faria.
Renee Zellweger is playing Pam Hupp who has been serving a life sentence for the 2016 murder of Louis Gumpenberger.
The authorities believe that she killed Louis to frame her husband Russ Faria for his wife’s murder. He served four years in jail before being acquitted in 2015.
