Rem Pitlick Parents Focused On Ice Hockey
Rhett and Rem Pitlick parents Lance and Lisa are former athletes and ice hockey fans. Lance has always wished for his kids to learn ice hockey from a young age.
The Pitlicks created an excellent atmosphere for their boys, Rem and Rhett, to grow their love of the game. They are currently enjoying a peaceful time in their home in the pine-filled woods near Bone Lake, Wisconsin.
Growing up, the boys would often jump onto the frozen lake to enjoy the yearly benefits of winter as they skated in their backyard.
They made sure their children fell in love with the game for all the right reasons. Given their various athletic backgrounds, the Pitlicks could have been tempted to soak their children with a heavy layer of unwanted advice. The pond that Lance carefully tended outside their home was a major reason for Rem and Rhett to fall in love with the game.
Father Lance Pitlick Is A Former Ice Hockey Player
Lance is a retired professional ice hockey player who played officially for NHL teams Ottawa Senators and the Florida Panthers.
Pitlick attended Robbinsdale Cooper High School in New Hope, Minnesota, and graduated in 1986. In the 1986 NHL Entry Draft, he was selected 180th overall by his hometown Minnesota North Stars in the ninth round.
The father of the two promising players played four years for the University of Minnesota after being chosen, giving a solid defensive presence to the Golden Gophers as he captained the team during the 1989-90 season. Pitlick was signed by the Philadelphia Flyers and spent four years with their AHL minor league club Hershey Bears, after college.
Similarly, his mom, Lisa, is a former two-time Big Ten champion gymnast for the Gophers and was the team MVP in 1988. She was an Olympic-level gymnast who lost out on competing on the world’s most significant stage due to an injury. She grew up doing gymnastic tricks and never saw herself living a “hockey lifestyle.”
Rem Pitlick Cousin Tyler Pitlick Is A Forward For St. Louis Blues
Tyler Pitlick is the cousin of Rem and Rhett, who plays ice hockey with the St. Louis Blues as a forward. The Edmonton Oilers drafted Tyler in the second round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Pitlick was raised in Champlin, Minnesota, but relocated to Lino Lakes and Centerville in middle school to be closer to his mother, Amy. His father, John, worked as a researcher in Minneapolis and coached local hockey, but he did not train his son.
When Tyler was a kid, his uncle Lance gave him a one-piece Easton Synergy Hockey stick on Christmas. He used it often and trained with it, and he used it occasionally. In an article by NHL, he spoke to Scott Burnside about the stick being the best hockey gift ever.
The Pitlicks Played Ice Hockey In The Home Pond
The Pitlick brothers grew up playing ice hockey at the pond near their parents house in Plymouth. They spent most of their childhood on the pond.
Playing and competing against each other, they trained to become a reputed player today. Even though they play in separate leagues, Rhett is developing his game in the NCAA with the University of Minnesota. Rem also did so for three seasons before making the switch to the NHL.
According to Rhett, Rem was the ideal guardian and mentor, supporting him through his hockey struggles and providing wise advice on life. He set Rhett up with training sessions with Hall of Famer Adam Oates, among other ideas and benefits, in addition to nutritional counseling.
