Narvel Blackstock and Reba McEntire first collaborated in 1980, when he was the steel guitarist in her band. Their business relationship eventually evolved into friendship, and ultimately into a fiery passion.
In a private ceremony in Lake Tahoe, California, the musical couple exchanged wedding vows aboard a boat in 1989.
Apart from becoming Reba’s husband, Narvel also became her manager, and the two co-founded Starstuck Entertainment to oversee the Oklahoma native’s blossoming career.
After marrying, the singer received three stepchildren from his previous marriage to Elisa Gayle Ritter (Chassidy, Shawna, and Brandon), and they welcomed son Shelby in 1990.
The couple startled the country music community and fans when they announced their separation on August 3, 2015, after 26 years of marriage.
A few months later, on October 28, 2015, the couple’s divorce was formalized. Despite their divorce, McEntire and her three stepchildren, as well as the Blackstock family, remain close.
