They were pronounced dead at the scene on September 25, just minutes before a baseball game between the San Diego Padres and the Atlanta Braves.
San Diego police initially stated that the deaths “appeared suspicious,” but ye4sterday they concluded that it was a suicide. However, they did not elaborate on how they arrived at that conclusion on Wednesday.
“To determine what led to the deaths, the detectives conducted a comprehensive and in-depth investigation that included numerous interviews.
We carry out the review of available video footage, and the collection of background information,” police said in a news release Wednesday.
“After consulting with the San Diego County Medical Examiner, Raquel Wilkins’ death was ruled a suicide, and Denzel Browning-Wilkins’ death was ruled a homicide.”
After the revelation, the San Diego Police Department refuse to make any further comments on the case.

Raquel Wilkins had a son Denzel Browning-Wilkins with her husband Christopher Browning. According to the reports, she was engaged to Christopher on the day the tragic incident took place.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the family of three was enjoying a Padres game when the disastrous incident followed.
The child’s father was reported to be at the ballpark when the death of his son and wife occurred. According to police Lt. Adam T. Sharki, the mother and child were at a dining/concession area on the concourse level prior to the fall.
The witness explained that Wilkins climbed onto a bench, then fell, before picking herself up and falling over the handrail while holding Denzel.
Dan Gilleon, an attorney for the woman’s family, expressed his displeasure with this on Wednesday, saying the family is considering suing the city, which owns the ballpark.
Gilleon tweeted, “if SDPD announces her death to be a suicide they should have the decency to explain why they believe that.”
